Comment: Jamis has been building for the past year and a half, and his aesthetic is fairly clear–he uses indigenous, sustainable woods and has a fresh idea about how a guitar should look and feel in one’s hands. While the woods here are mainstream, the oil finish has a low key look and easy care compared to delicate French polished guitars. An oiled neck finish gives the player purchase when barring yet is smooth and easy to shift up and down the fingerboard. Has anyone ever seen a fingerboard as colorful as this one?
This guitar is fully alive and offers a considerable amount of natural sustain. The cocobolo set is extremely thick and provides the kind of stiff resistance to note decay that yields a big, round response. It is a close cousin to Aussie lattices or the O’Leary on this site. And very affordable. An ideal guitar for a serious student, intermediate player. A fun guitar to play, and a powerhouse for folks who want easy projection.
