Condition: mint. Expert luthier Ramon Zayas has brought this classic back to like new condition. Minor cracks cleated and glued, frets leveled and polished, new bone nut and saddle, full French polish refresh.
Comment: Paul Fischer worked in the David “Jose” Rubio shop for number of years under the master Rubio’s supervision. Thus the Rubio label and Fischer’s signature. Some speculate Fischer’s best work was during that period, which spanned at least 1971 to 1975.
The Rubio/Fischer collaboration puts this guitar into a collector category, but the instrument’s quality speaks for itself. A very significant bass response is well balanced by trebles; the guitar has a presence and plenty of expected color. The voice is creamy and warm. A guitar ready to be an every day instrument. I particularly like the Fischer rosette.
